White Christmas

I have always wanted to have a white Christmas... but living in Australia, there will be no chance of that ever happening as our Christmas is during summer. So the next best thing was to make some cards to reflect a white Christmas. I had a little inspiration from some other designers for 3 of my cards, see below for details.

The inspiration for the card above came from Tanja Kolar who makes beautiful cards and I love all her work and she now has a translation button on her website, so you can read everything in English.

The idea for the card above came from Heather Klump. I particularly loved the subtleness of the ornaments and the vintage feel of the card.

The inspiration for the card above came from Judy May. You can use any Christmas tree stamp for this card as they all work with the design.

Christmas Cards

Christmas is fast approaching, so I thought I would share some great Christmas cards with you all. I have used a range of new products from the latest catalogues as well as some retired products.

Daisies Just for You Card

Another simple card that has a lot of "wow factor". Unfortunately the Stampin' Up! daisies die was never available for sale in Australia.

Build a Flower Card

I'm sure most of you have a range of different brand products, primarily I use Stampin' Up! products, but also have a number of other brands that I use as well. This is a very quick and simple card using  mostly Stampin' Up! products and a Cherry Lyn die for the flower.

Bear Punch Art Card

Punch art... it can be extremely challenging, but it can also be very easy if you have the right punches. I have made many punch art characters and will share them with you over time. The inspirations for this little guy came from a card that I have seen in one of my upline demonstrators class. I love the simplicity of the card.

Mixed Bunch Card

This is a very quick and simple card to make, the inspiration came from one of the cards that I have seen in one of my upline demonstrators class.

Flower Pot Birthday Card

I wanted to show the card that I made for my mother's birthday. I was inspired by a card a saw on  Helen Heil's blog. She gives step by step instructions on how to make this card, unfortunately I didn't have the petal cone die that she used, so I had to improvise and make up my own template to use for the flower pot.

Here is my version of the flower pot card.

Blossom Petals Builder Card

I just wanted to share another card made with the blossom petals builder punch. Unfortunately most of the products used to make this card are now retired, so if your were lucky enough to have bought the products before they retired, you might like to give this one a go!

Flower Pot Cards

Here are a couple of nice, quick and simple cards to make if you are short on time and best of all, they still have the wow factor!

Owl Punch

Well I decided to do a post about the owl punch, I think this punch is so versatile with what you can make with it. Try googling the owl punch on the internet and you will see the ideas are endless. I have made a couple of sheets of examples that I found on the internet that others have made and also came up with some of my own ideas as well.

Polka Dot Cards

Today I am sharing a couple of polka dot themed cards, the first one is cased from Connie Collins and the second one is from Linda Callahan.

Blossom Petals Builder Card

I just love the blossom petals builder punch, it is so versatile with the different flowers you can build. These flowers look fantastic plain or used with the coordinating build a blossom stamp set and add great dimension to any card or scrapbooking page.

Any Occasion Card

I was inspired by a card made by Erica Cerwin and decided to CASE her design. I made my card suitable to give to either a male or female and for any occasion.

Masculine Cards

It is sometimes hard to come up with a good masculine card for that special person in our lives, whether it be a husband, dad, brother, grandfather, son or so on. Here are a few cards that I have given to the various blokes in my life.

Try this card with a different sport stamp set to suit who you are giving it to.

The below card could be made for a male or female just by changing the colours of the candles, twine & stamp. I used scrap left over pieces of DSP (picking colours that were masculine) for the candles & added some black twine and a birthday sentiment.

Recycle Challenge

In one of my upline classes, we were given a recycle challenge to do. We could do any layout and use any colours as long as we used 1 recycled item/product of our choice on the card. My recycled product was using the inside of a muslie bar box which has a similar appearance the crumb cake card stock, only it's much thicker and has more of a rustic look.

Thank You Card

I really wanted to make a card that looked like a glass vase (or in this case...a jar) of flowers and to make it look 3D. I think I achieved my goal...I stamped the jar from the perfectly preserved stamp set on a window sheet and cut a slit in the top of the jar. I then cut strips of green card to represent the stems and bear grass and threaded them through the slit of the jar, added my flowers and voila! a glass jar of flowers.

Children's Birthday Card

I wanted to make a children's birthday card that would suit several age groups and this is what I came up with! The pinwheels are made using the tiny Stampin Up pinwheel die and bright colour DSP.

First Stampin' Up! Workshop

A few weeks ago, I held my first Stampin' Up! workshop. This was the main card that we made. I decided to use a "for you" stamp so that the card could be used for any occasion.

To get the perfect hexagon shape to sit inside the embossed area, I emboss a scrap piece of card with the honeycomb folder and using a scalpel knife (a surgical one with detachable blades) cut very carefully around one of the hexagon shapes with a metal ruler. I then traced around this shape on the reverse side of my coloured card or DSP with pencil. Once I traced all the pieces I needed, I cut all the hexagons with scissors just inside the pencil mark for a perfect fit. For the hexagons that were on the edge, I just trimmed the excess off.
I have also made a few variations of the card using the honeycomb embossing folder, so you can see how different you can make a card look just by adding different embellishments, picking a different stamp to use or by changing the colours completely.....I just love this embossing folder!

Welcome to Splotch Design

Wow! Never in a million years did I ever think that I would start a blog! I have had quite a few requests from friends to start one up...so here it is. I’ve spent several weekends putting it together and have had a lot fun in the process (there’s nothing like setting yourself a huge challenge and conquering it). I hope that my family, friends & customers will enjoy my blog as much as I do!

I live in Canberra and became an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in 2012. I will do my best to provide the latest information on products, promotions and techniques used in my creations. If you have any questions regarding Stampin’ Up! or would like to place an order or book a workshop, then please send an email to jacquiimcleay@gmail.com

My blog will be where I hope to share with you my enjoyment of paper-craft using Stampin’ Up! products. I love scrapbooking and cardmaking and try to do both as often as possible. I will endeavour to put up new posts each week for inspiration and hope that you can join me on my journey.
